Work Experience For Maths

Ok, so while writing my personal statement I've ticked all the boxes such as further reading, why maths and extra curriculars but when it comes to work experience, I've essentially done squat.

I mean, I have tried but never really succeeded. I did genetics work experience in this hospital type thing but it was like the day after my GCSEs ended, which went on for like 1.5 months so obviously I was knackered, and I found it really boring so I just sort of quit. I also tried arranging some banking experience but that didn't work out at all.

So my question; do I need to have any work experience? I mean come on, it is maths - it's pretty irrelevant if you ask me.

Doesn't matter.

No.

But you must understand that it's not about getting work experience that is related to maths, but just getting some sort of work experience at all. You can go on about how responsible, well-rounded you are etc. in your PS - I know it's done to death, but it works.
genetics is maths related, so put down u did it, just dont mention the one day bit!

It's part of mathematical biology. I don't know the details, actually I don't even know it vaguely, but it is an option at degree level. This guy at Oxford specialises is interested in it:
