I am thinking of booking the 6med interview crash course. Is the 6med interview crash course worth the price? Have anyone went to this course and how did you find it?
I am a gap year medic who has done all the courses. My thoughts are as follows:
There are many different courses. They are obviously not essential but nevertheless I found some of them quite helpful. Each course has its advantages and disadvantages
6med.co.uk +run by students +good booklet -not really helpful for me - the instructor just goes through the booklet -overhyped
Kaplan.co.uk - huge widespread medical reputation Previously interview course only involved a booklet and lecture Current course - the interviewer went ahead and at the end conducted a 1-1 interview for me (not sure if regular) -expensive -inexperienced instructor
http://www.medical-interviews.co.uk/ - School teacher briefly mentioned +GP can provide information about NHS workings, illnesses BUT that's about it +good reputation + always free slots available -run mainly by GPs and GPs inexperienced regarding actual experience -very expensive - i think more than 150
http://www.medschool-admissions.co.uk/ - recommended by a 2nd year to me ++ Interviews recorded so you know where to improve -Lectures not very helpful -MMI setup in groups was not helpful either
medheads.co.uk (previously ukmedicalschinterviews.com) +separate students in groups - gave good MMI, normal and oxbridge interviews +instructor was very helpful and gave me FB help and conducted free skype interview +OXBRIDGE interview = huge previous questions pack -New course - received email about website change earlier today - not sure if same management
Acemedicine.co.uk (previously acemedicine.com) +Instructor was very well versed and really helped with interview technique = talks all about aspects which are regularly missed out in normal interviews -UNRESPONSIVE WEBSITE
DONE the other courses so I have the booklets. ONLY reason to go to crash course would be (for me!) to get the booklet.
