    Grizedale Accommodation
    Hello fellow students!
A couple of days ago I received a phone call from the Uni informing me that I failed to get into Furness because it was oversubscribed, consequently they offered me a place at my second choice college, Grizedale. They gave me a choice between a standard room with no wash basin in the Tower or an en-suite room, seeing as I can’t afford en-suite I chose the standard accommodation.

A part of me however is beginning to regret this decision, and my feelings of regret have been furthered by claims that the accommodation in the tower is outdated and that the walls in the rooms are bare brick (not like that matter much, I'd call it the 'New York apartment' look). I’ve also heard that the Tower has the smallest rooms on campus.

I was just wondering if any of the current students at Lancaster have any experience of accommodation at Grizedale, and if so could they tell me what it is like? Am I just being a worry wart?

Also, I may be being a bit cheeky but is there any chance of a price reduction? I’d just feel a bit cheated if my standard accommodation was of a lesser quality compared to the others on campus.

    Thanks.

The tower doesn't have the smallest rooms on campus. In fact the newer buildings have smaller rooms. Furness has had the tower for the last couple of years, and Grizedale have been given it this year because they've knocked some of their own accommodation down to build new (prior to all this the tower accommodated Bowland students).

It's not the most up to date building by far, but once you make the room your own it doesnt really matter I guess. The main downside for most people is being high up!

Thanks! You’ve definitely put my mind at ease!

I don’t mind being high up, it’ll give me a sense of power. *cue maniacal laughter*

People who live in the Tower absoluely love it. And I think it is cheaper than other standard accom as there is no wash basin in the room.

One of my friends used to live in Bowland Tower and I thought it was really cool whenever I saw it. His room was definately bigger than the en-suite ones you'd get instead. It's right in the centre of campus, too.

Hey, I'm guessing you're probably in Southwest campus, which is another part of the campus. If you're in Southwest, you're probably in the nice en-suite modern rooms which are very nice, I lived in House 43 Stavely last year.

For anyone who is getting confused, Alexandra Park and South West are one and the same thing. Alex Park is the official name and South West is what it gets called!
