It's probably not those dates specifically but onwards. So 1950 onwards would probably be about the Cold war and 1550-1800 the early modern period. And then 1800 onwards, whatever aspects they feel like teaching.

erm... 1950s.

In USA, Cold War (Korea, Vietnam, Suez, and other areas), generally considered a conservative era, McCarthyism, but the beginnings of the Social Rev of the 1960s starting to show.

UK - Conservatives in power in 51, but maintain welfare state etc. Suez and decline of imperialism?

Africa - decolonialisation. Algerian war of independence, Mau Mau in Kenya.

Asia - Peoples republic of China, Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam.

Soviet Union - death of Stalin in 53.

1550s, Edward VI on the throne, think its the Duke of Northumberland as Lord Protector. Not quite sure what else happened, the accession of Lady Jane Grey, accession of Mary, execution of Lady Jane Grey and Lord Guildford Dudley and in 1558 death of Mary, accession of Elizabeth. So in there would be the war with France, Spanish Marriage.

Assuming it will be like the Mid-Tudor crisis? Or the late mid-tudor crisis...

If the dates are only approximate then I suppose the 1550 one could be about the English Reformation...
