i'm sure there is a pretty broad mark scheme for gs.
i got 95/100 on sci & society, and 70/100 on culture & society.. the only "revision" i did was to read through 2 past papers & their mark schemes, whilst shamelessly flirting with a guy i'd just met by text!
i got an A overall, gs cannot be THAT hard that you got 5%! did you spell your name wrong and write nothing else?!
hey guys, may I ask, if you do want to declare your UMS marks for Oxford, how do you actually do that? xD
I think, if your UMS are particularly good (and you want to show them off ), just get your teacher to put them in their reference!
You can't actually put them in the ucas form i dont think...

lol thanks for the help~(though I must say I personally wouldn't want to show my UMS (some are horrible...=S) and am quite happy about that!xD ).
May I ask another quick question? Am I understaning it right that you don't really have the UMS/grades you've got unless you cash them in? So you can't declare those module grade without cashing them in first?
if your school chooses not to cash in your AS level grades this year, neither your module scores nor your module grades will be shown on your UCAS form. Only your predicted grades (which in the case of my school often overestimate by 2 grades!). Furthermore, if you choose not to carry a subject on to A2 there is no need for its predicted grade to be on your form.
Yeah, now I understand why certain ppl always went for oxford at my school.XD(just joking, I'm sure they were awesome though).
I'm in a slight dilemma here though, I do want to declare all of my grades but I'm not too happy about 1 or 2 modules for 2 subjects and I kind of want to retake them... if so, does that mean I can't declare the overall grade I've got for that 2 subjects? o__O
its been answered many times,
as far as last year is conncerned, no, any modules they see are ones that you put in your personal statement/ reference, although they are free to ask at interview
however things change, that may not be the case come next year's applications- for those unsure of where/ if to write them so unis can see- i'd sak a teacher that knows you well i.e. is it an accurate representation of the standard you can achieve
plus note that oxford no longer have a separate form (and i haven't heard about that changing) so whatever you write has to get you into your other unis too..
Hey there, may I ask about this module grade thing a little further? (sorry.>__<:
So, even if you cash in your module grades, state them on the UCAS form, they won't look at them?
If so, that's a bit weird because at one of the open day talks at a college, they said they'll consider everything and one said he does look at the module grades if candidates decided to declare them on the UCAS form. =/
And...(just one more Q, sorry..XD). If there is a module you're not too please with because it's not reflecting your ability and etc(even though it's still an A and your overall grade is a very safe/decent A, subject), should you still consider re-taking it?
Sorry if this is a really stupid question, I just can't seem to find a good place to ask this.XD

um to paragraph 1) if you cash in grades, i'm not sure, i think you have no choice but to write the overall grade attained in AS (whilst if you don't cash them in then they only see your predicted grade), modules i'm not sure. If you don't cash in your grades you cannot put them on the form, if you do, then i'm not 100% sure if it's compulsory, i've heard it's not- but might be work checking with school
and to 2) if it's an A forget about it- in december you will be preparing for interviews, there is seriously no point doing it- if you get to summer and feel that this module would be an easy 95-100 UMS and you aren't so confident about A2 mods, then maybe do it then (although if you have no jan exams and are willing to pay for it then by all means just go sit it, the mark can't go down- but i think if it's an A, you're fine)
Can you choose whether to put your module grades down if your school cashes in AS levels? Also, do you have to put the module grades down for certified A2 levels?

Thanks.
As I understand it, Oxford never requires that you put your module grades down. However, if your school has cashed in your AS levels your overall AS grades will be visible on the UCAS form. I suppose the same applies to A2 grades. If you choose to put module grades down you can do it independently via teacher's reference ... or personal statement I suppose.
@DaniLL:
thanks a lot for the help! I'll check my school's policies about these things when I get back.
@everyone:
Hmmm, may I ask what "extra" details are actually required to make an application toOxford, as opposited to other universities(excep cambridge) then?
Also, I was just wondering, say you've got all "A"s in the modules but you don't want to cash them in(just in case you might need a retake to bump up your UMS a bit or something), can you still declare them on the UCAS form because even though you might be retaking, it's still going to be an A?
Sorry about these weird questions, my mind just likes to wonder about.. ^^;;
Oxford don't require module grades, but some other uni's do right. So is it possible to show some uni's module grades, but not oxford. OR do all uni's see the same application???
I still don't get this module grades thing. On the UCAS form I either choose a grade or leave as "pending", there are no other options. I'd rather my module results weren't on my form (although they are mostly As, C in bio coursework GULP!)

same application- and no uni apart from cambridge requires to see module grades as far as i know (although some like imperial can make an offer whereby they want over 90UMS in every module- although i reckon this offer will be replaced by an A*)
