i just thought of the idea of taking a gap year today. i'm planning to travel around for 6 months and then work for 6 months. i want to work in a civil engineering firm so that i can get relavent experience and use the money from this to pay for my travelling. how hard is it to get a 6 month placement for civil engineering? i know the "year in industry" scheme is available but (as the title suggests) it lasts for a whole year.
