You COULD get a reference written by someone you have done work experience with/someone you worked for. Only thing is I'm not sure how they would include all of your extra-curricular things in but I know some people who did it because the tutor who would have written it was lame like yours.

Thanks for everyones help, i think i know where he is coming from and i guess its my fault - i didnt realise that you cant leave revision for A levels 2-3 weeks before the exam!.. i was one of the good students but i guess i messed up. I have got other references ready from work exp, voluntary work and other teachers so that could help.
I also actually got like 90% on my chem tests so i will let u guys know if he decides to change his mind after all this!

if you can actually achieve those grades, you'll be better placed to apply while on gap year, if you can't then you haven't lost anything by not applying now anyways as you wouldn't be able to take up your place.
