Resitting GCSE units

Right then - can anyone explain to me the rules on resitting GCSE units?

Can you for instance, resit one paper in a qualification or do you have to resit them both? (eg. Maths paper 1 and paper 2)

Also, can you resit a unit as many times as you like (ie. until your happy with your overall grade)?

I would like to resit my GCSE PE theory paper next Summer and carry over my practical marks. I got 118/150 for theory this year and practical results of 33/40 and 33/40 which meant an overall grade of an A. 1 practical mark off an A* or 4 theory marks off an A*. I feel that with a better paper I could easily get the needed marks for that elusive * next to the A!

You cannot resit any GCSE unit as far as I am aware; if you are dissatisfied with any result from the qualification you have to resit everything. So in Maths you would have to redo papers 5 and 6.

You can resit a whole qualification as much as you like, but you cannot resit individual units within it.
