not sure if this helps...

i heard that it was possible to find out at midnight whether you had got into your university or not, via the ucas tracking service. anyweny, apparantly this isn't true but i e-mailed York anyway just to double check...

this is some of what they said,

Dear Charlotte

In reply to your email. Institutions are not permitted to discuss
examination grades, but you are more than welcome to telephone the
University of York Admissions Office on Thursday to ascertain whether a
decision has been finalised on your application. The telephone number
is 01904 432459.

Applicants wishing to check their status on the UCAS website will find
decisions showing from 11 am.

With best wishes for Thursday.

Yours sincerely

so im guessing, that if your getting your results a lot later than 9am - like me (10.30!!!!) - then you can actually ring the university and theyll say if you got in but not necessarly disclose the grades.

Theres no point ringing them up before you get your grades, you need to beg and banter with them if they aren't willing to let you in, and this is pretty much impossible without your grades.
