References

Do you HAVE to give a reference fom your last job? Would it be really obvious that I ... umm ... got the sack if I don't? I put the job down because I thought it'd look better than nothing ... but does it actually look worse if there's no reference?

I've got an interview ... so if that goes OK do you think that just my tutor would be OK?

Also, should I explain the circumstances of leaving my previous job at the interview (only if I'm asked in detail, obviously), do you think? (I just stopped turning up one day and never told them ... but I could probably put a bit of spin on that!) Or should I say that I can't get a reference from it due to some lame made-up reason?
