Why is no-one enjoying it? :frown: It's making me scared, lol.

No-one is enjoying it because no-one is at Lancaster! Simple!
To be serious Lauren, the first few days at uni are tough and everyone is very emotional and stressed. It's a roller coaster time, the highs are high and the lows are very low. It takes a while for things to level out, and the trick is to keep your head and keep a sense of perspective when you feel awful.
Sometimes uni, especially Freshers' Week, is built up to be the most fantastic experience of your entire life. But for lots of people it's not. That doesn't mean that they are going to be unhappy for a whole three years, but that is what is worrying them right now.

WOW!!! That is seriously something!!! Are you also allowed to attend whatever lecture you want even if you don't take the exam? Like drop in and listen if you're interested?

I'm not sure i doubt anyone would notice if you just turned up and i'm sure lecturers wouldn't mind...unless it's seriously overcrowded. There is a lecture about sex on friday and i think anyone can go so i assume it will be the same for other lectures.

What UNI are you at?! That sounds like an international seventh heaven!!!!!!

I'm at UCL and i suppose it is an international seventh heaven. What uni are you going to?

I've been to UCL to take a tour around and I think it is seriously fantastic! It is an amazing uni.. as soon as you walk in the air the atmosphere is.. wow breathtaking! But they didn't have the course I wanted.. (Economics AND Politics) so I opted for something else..

I'm applying to Oxford, LSE, Warwick, Bath and Royal Holloway.. don't know where I'll get where I'll go, trying my hardest and trying to make the most of it so who knows.. Warwick and LSE are my main aims though  I'll know in just a couple of months.. have to send my applications by the end of the week so I'm pretty sure I'll get most of my replies before January  wish me luck lol

yeah I know.. heard though that through the University of London group you can actually ask to attend lectures in between universities! So, might drop by if I get accepted either LSE or Royal Holloway
I'm loving uni, it's a lot better then I expected.
worse than expected. ive felt so lonely all the time.

It's better than expected. I though I'd find it quite difficult to get talking to people as I'm living in my home town and I have children so I can't got to the freshers parties, but I've been talking to so many people and its been great.
It really helped that my uni (Hull University) had a mature students welcome lunch so I met a few people from that and met up with some of them for a drink yesterday, then I've got talking to a couple of people on my course and random people in the registration queues and on the bus etc.

Tomorrow my department are holding an informal welcome with wine and snacks so we can get to know each other more. So, its been so far so good for me.

:frown: How come? Which uni are you at? Hey it might get better with time.. it's a real clash and change in environment, not what you might be used to... so it might take a bit of time
Uni so far for me is an emotional rollercoaster. I've had great times and horrible lonely times. Currently I'm borderline suicidal. S'pose I'll have to wait and see how tonight goes.

:frown:
i'm at hull. 'the country's friendliest university' apparently. im applying to move to a house instead. i hate it so much here, 90% of the time im almost in tears, the other 10% im wasted.

I'm at Hull too, although I am from Hull so I don't live in uni accommodation. I've had no problems getting talking to people though. I've just been talking to people in the queues and in the seating area near my department, even more randomly a girl on a bus who I'm going to meet up with for a coffee. I'm sure things will settle down after this week. Feel free to PM me.

Hey i'm at UCL too  ! It does rock from time to time but so far i've been pub crawling or to a party most nights and it's getting reptitive and dull....but the uni itself is amazing though. Next week is the last week of freshers so I think i'll just make one big extra effort. What course are you doing and what halls are you in?

Freshers week is generally just a drinkfest, so I guess if that isn't your cup of tea then you may not have a good time. But once lectures start and societies start you can begin getting involved in activities you enjoy.

On the subject of freshers, I'm having an awesome time, Sheffield rules.

About as expected.

Freshers is way overrated unless you like being wasted and leered over. But I can't wait to get into the course
I've just completed my first week, and I'm exhausted mentally and physically. It's a lot different to how I expected - my group are all mixed ability and I'm sat there twiddling my thumbs thinking 'I hope it gets more advanced, and soon'. It's a long commute twice a day which is financially crippling and physically knackering. There's a trip coming up in October which sounds like a good laugh / bonding exercise.
I'm just worried that the course is going to be a repeat of the course I've just completed, so I'll give it a few weeks, talk to my tutor and see how it goes before making any rash decisions.
