Re: Medlink experiencesWell, I see that obviously TSR members haven't said enough to put you off. Good on you. Have fun at Medlink; top tip: to find more people who are going to Medlink, post on the Medlinkspace forum too(Original post by !MEna)
Is anyone going from the 19th-22nd like me? If so, let me know! I want to meet some fellow TSR'ers and hopeful medics!

Re: Medlink experiences
Hi guys
I know it's been like 5 years since you guys have posted on this but hopefully I'll get a reply!
I was so looking forward to MedLink after what I read about it and some junior doctors I've spoke to really recommend it (including a couple of GPs). However, I'm getting more concerned after what I'm reading on here! I have had decent experience of shadowing a junior docotr and literally looking over the shoulder of a surgeon for a week in gynaecology, witnessing a real birth and then an opted C-section. I would like to go to medlink to know students I'm 'competing' for places at University, gain an insight into the application of Medicine and gaining any information at all about anything!
Will I get these things there?
Thanks in advance for any replies! X -
Re: Medlink experiencesYou will no doubt get some of those things at MedLink, but at a high cost. What we're trying to tell you is that you can get those things for free here, and at places like New Media Medicine, and by just asking medical schools themselves!(Original post by McMedic)

Take it from those of us who have been on MedLink -- it's not worth the high cost you have to pay. It really isn't, but if you have already booked then don't worry about it, it's still a good social experience and you'll probably enjoy it

Re: Medlink experiencesThere's nothing MedLink can do for you that you can't gain from shadowing or asking questions here or on open days. Going doesn't offer any applicant advantage and the only upside i can see is the social side. It a hell of a lot of money for very little gained; apart from maybe a tacky stethoscope.(Original post by McMedic)

Re: Medlink experiencesGuilty as charged on the stethoscope, I went for the 'upgraded' one at the time which happens to still be a pretty **** stethoscope. Good for fancy dress, though.(Original post by gozatron)
