Do you HAVE to wear a trouser suit? It might be considerably easier for you to wear a dress or even a skirt. I have the opposite problem, being 5'9 with ridiculously long legs I can never get trousers long enough in size 10 and so end up having to get 12s or even 14s just to get them to sit lower and so actually reaching my ankles. So now I just get skirts or dresses because it's ok if they're slightly baggier whereas baggy trousers look a bit scruffy for work.

I am so in your boat. 5'10", size 12 and I can't find jeans to fit... George (at Asda) believe it or not are good for long jeans... Still not quite long enough...

But I HATE skirts with a passion!! I can't wear skirts in work anyway (whoop whoop)

I hate being tall. I love shoes, but I feel daft in heels (being 6'3" or something stupid...) Do you wear heels?

Topshop tall jeans are incredible! I love being tall haha I'd love to be 5'10 rather than 5'9. I don't wear heels but only because I never really go anywhere to warrant wearing them haha
Being "petite" actually has nothing to do with your body measurements, it's to do with your height. If you're 5ft 3 or shorter than you are petite. My stats are 30-25-34 and I wear a size 6-8, and I'm 5ft 2.5. Try looking for size 4s, I know Topshop, Miss Selfridge and New Look do (at least on their websites) in their petite sections, and I think Boohoo.com and ASOS do as well.

What's annoying is that sizing can vary so widely, even in the same shop, I have some tops that I could definitely have worn a size 4 in because they're a bit too big in a 6, and in some tops an 8 is better. I looked at some basic vests in Topshop the other day and there would have no chance of me fitting into a 6, they were tiny!

a european size 38 inches is maybe a size 12/14 in H&M and oasis and a Size 8 in Marks and Spencer and bon marche.

Hardly, I was a european size 38 for years, and bought size 10s in most high street shops.

Edit : are you talking about European sizing or inches? Because inches are inches no matter where you go

I agree. I bet it is only because fat people tend to be stronger, therefore more likely to be physically violent. I am growing my nails extra-long, and will scratch anyone who calls me anorexic!

say what ????? are you joking !!you've just completely ruined your own argument you just said fat people are most likely to be physically violent than people who are slimmer??? really ? what do you define as fat??

also op im not a small skinny size 6 but I use to be to thin for my height and the only places I found did size 6 clothes which were proper size 6 is zara and h and m Im a size 10 in h and m but fit into size 6 jeans at topshop so I don't think topshop is to precise with its sizing

im 17 and 4ft3 i have to wear childrens clothes
Arghhh, I sympathize. I'm size 4 and 5 foot, so it's so hard to find clothes. Topshop, ASOS (apparently does down to size 2!), Miss Selfridge and Banana Republic are the best I've found...but it IS more difficult when it comes to smart clothes: Karen Millen, Ted Baker, Reiss, Whistles and Hobbs NW3 do size 6's, but they're on the generous side...so only knitwear tends to fit there. If you're near London or Birmingham, I strongly recommend Armani Exchange - they're almost the ONLY place where trousers fit me, because they're short and have small waists.

Otherwise, use a tailor...but then that does get expensive after a while, but I've done it for suit jackets and my trench coat.

i have the exact problem. Im sixteen,5'1 and wear 2-4 size clothing UK , i shop online most of the time, mainly ASOS petite as there sizes go down to size 2, they have really nice work outfits, party outfits, loads, its just really good!
Such a relief to see I'm not the only one getting so angry at the whole thing.
I'm 20, 4ft 10 and I have no idea what size I am even still. 29, 20.5, 29.5.
Size 4's, that I can find within petite ranges, still tend to be too big!
I mostly shop at Dorothy Perkins, Boohoo, misguided and ASOS now. (online) gave up with miss selfridge as my size 4 jeans from there are way too baggy and I look like a kid.
It's just such a joke! We're supposedly In an 'obesity epidemic', costing millions, and yet the clothes are getting bigger and bigger and bigger, making it.more and more acceptable, more and more specialist 12-32 nonsense! Everywhere does a 12! We should setup our own 'genuine petite store" lol
Even Kids size 11-12 is MASSIVE, I'm talking falling off the hips n bum - massive. The size below is too short though.
We're led to believe we're not real women unless we're above a size 12. I feel a healthy shape atm,.no bones popping out...why should I have to gain weight (just so clothes don't gape), when severely unhealthy overweight folk are told they are wonderful and brave. I don't get it, and I've had it.
I'm all for every girl and woman to be able to wear want they want and look how they want, and be confident with themselves...but, we're deprived of that, dubbed anorexics (I was even sent to an anorexia clinic!) double standards..hate it.
Sending love, Fiona xxx

Size 2?!! Damn..I've never seen a size 2 on ASOS. Have not looked hard enough have I lol.
Being a healthy size 4 isnt difficult, happens to a lot of people, biscester shopping village (outlet mall in oxford) has loads of size 4 clothes there, if you want a day trip/leave nearby its 100% worth it, take me 4 hours to go round half of it and i dont go in many shops!
Does anyone know of anywhere to buy clothes which fit people with curves... my problem is that my bum is relatively big compared to my waist i can fit a size 8 jeans on my bum but my waist is 24" so even a 6 is too big on my waist! Its a pain to find dresses as a size 4 is way too tight on my bum -.-.

hello,

im so frustrated and fed up with clothes shopping. i wear size 6 generally. im very petite, with stats of 32-21-34 and i totally cant find any shops to buy clothes. i can buy fashion/casual clothes ok. often H&m will do, as will new look. i can sometimes get size 6 in tesco. but so many clothes are so big! even the petit ranges. shockingly, i even found a store where the petite range sold size 10-24! lets face it girls, there is nothing petite about a size 24. there are so many stores which sell clothes for big girls over size 16, so why not small girls? its so embarrassing to be sopping in a kids section at my age (21). i need suits and shirts for work. even size 6 in next is too big. miss selfridge used to stock size 4/us size o for a while but they stopped. oasis sells ok clothes in small sizes sometimes. i also tend to shop in european sizes rather than british sizes, due to the serious vanity sizing - a european size 38 inches is maybe a size 12/14 in H&M and oasis and a Size 8 in Marks and Spencer and bon marche. or clothes sixe 18+ being labelled 'petite'

where can i get adult and business clothes in small sizes?

there must be more of us out there. small ladies. so if we pool our knowledge maybe we can all buy clothes. and its not like we are anorexics or anything. im just really short and therefore in proportion.

how old are you, what size do you tend to wear and where do you get your clothes?
STOP THIS PETITIST DISCRIMINATION!
where do you buy clothes? which websites are also good for small clothes?
where do you buy your clohes?

I truly understand you, I have the same problem, business clothes it's difficult to find and think about that I am 40yo. In uk size 4 it's big for me I mean for dresses, suits and trousers...
Honestly primark has the best size 4 and 6 stuff
