medicine vs teaching careers

please help as i am in a huge dilemma!

i have wanted to study medicine for the past 10 yrs but didnt get the grades at AS so was forced to rethink my future. at a push i should be able to get the grades for medicine at A2 but through volunteering etc i have developed an interest in teaching. please could people weigh up the pros and cons of medicine and teaching so i can make an informed decision.

thank you

medicine.. you have to really love it to get through the 5 years degree course.
youll spend a lot of time being skint in your 20s...
youll be more busy with work
BUT it might be more rewarding to know youre saving lives!
why do you want to do medicine and why do you want to do teaching?

i want to do medicine because i have always admired doctors and am interested in the science of medicine as well as helping people. i found my work experience in opthalmology fascinating and it made me more determined to do medicine.

but, i want to do teaching because every day is guarenteed to be different. i think it would be a rewarding job and helping children get through the social and academic aspects of school would really suit me. i also communicate better with children and i think i would make a good teacher as i have had a small amount of teaching experience before. and thats not even mentioning the holidays!
