Re: Topman/Topshop Pay Rates?
I work at Topshop and I earn £6.08 an hour. Christmas temps also earn this. Christmas temps also are given uniform. When you get a permanent job you have to wait 3 months before applying for discount (25%) and every 3 months you get 60% off a certain number of items (e.g. a person on a 4 hour contract will get 3 items of clothing)
You can earn more by working through your books (standard, advanced, top level).
It doesn't matter what age you are, if you're standard level you will earn the same as any top level whether they are 18, 21 etc.
To apply for a job just come in with your cv
I recommend asking for a manager then they can tell you exactly when they are hiring and can put your CV on file
For interviews; probably would be wise to wear something from Topshop/Topman, something on trend as well
just be confident, you don't have to know exactly what on trend but maybe have a look through the website to get some general ideas!
Working environment; employees are not at all the bitchy, rude people that we are made out to be
everyone is generally very friendly, it's generally a good environment, great staff parties etc etc
Hope this has helped with anything! I've been working at Topshop since I was 16 and I've learnt A LOT from it

Re: Topman/Topshop Pay Rates?
I work a 4 hour contract in Topman and get £5.93 per hour, 20% off merchandise and 50% off 3 items of clothing every 3 months. It couldn't be a better place to work, the managers are friendly and totally compromise and work with all your needs.
Jobs in Topman/Topshop are really competitive! The advice I would give is find out who exactly looks through CV's (there's no point in registering on the Topman careers website, just give yours in in your local store) and build up a rapport with them, then sneakily mention you have handed your CV in a few times with no avail. That's what I did and I am loving my job!
For an interview, I would go in smart casual (obviously Topman/Topshop merchandise), don't overdress but don't underdress, you're chances of getting a job aren't affected by what you wear! -
Re: Topman/Topshop Pay Rates? So do you actually only work 4 hours a week? I did a bit of research because I found this confusing, but apparently you can work up to 30 hours with a 4 hour contract. D:(Original post by scfcolle)

I just got an interview for a sales advisor position on a 4 hour contract, and am a little uncertain whether to take that as set in stone. -
Topshop interview - what to wear?!!
Hi everyone,
Just a quick question, I've got a job interview at Topshop on Friday and was wondering about what kind of thing to wear. At the mo, I'm thinking high-waisted Levi's shorts, a studded collared shirt and chunky black boots...has anyone been for an interview there who could possibly tell me if this sounds ok?!!
Thanks in advance x -
Exactly.. Go in your birthday suit!(Original post by thecrimsonidol)
Suits tend to go down well in interviews. First impressions, and all that...

Re: Topman/Topshop Pay Rates?
Hi, I handed my cv in to two Topshop shops today (Strand and Victoria - don't like the Victoria one) and applied online to work at the flagship one, which I reeeeeally want to work at. I'm 16 though and the only work experience I have is working for a day at a primary school. What's the likelihood of me getting an interview? Also would it be possible for me to do an 8 hour shift in one day? I'm really nervous about the interview too, if I get one, anyone who works there or has applied to work there, please can you let me know what the interview process is like, what sort of questions are asked, what I should wear etc? I'd really appreciate it!

Re: Topman/Topshop Thread
(Detailed Topshop Interview)
I had handed in my CV around 3 months ago, and never heard back until a few days ago, so don't panic if they've not contacted you yet, they keep your CVs on file for 6 months
I got called in for an interview and was told I would also have to do some outfit picking. When I arrived I was taken into a room and asked a few questions, he asked..
-why I was interested in Topshop (you should mention London Fashion Week in this question)
- I was asked what I liked about working in retail. (mention that you love working with members of the public)
-What trends I liked that where in at the moment (if you don't know about trends, then go have a look on the Topshop website! right now (November 2012) popular trends are sci-fi prints, collars, studs & spikes and velvet
After that he just chatted to me about the role of the job/ hours etc..
Then I was taken onto the shop floor where a girl who worked in Topshop told me to pick out an outfit for somebody who was going on a first date, they do this to see what kind of style you have. choose something that's in trend right now, and also pair it with jewellery/bags/shoes they seemed impressed that I done that.
after that they asked me why I had chosen what I had. And I was taken back into the interview room to ask any questions I had.. I only asked about the pay and if there was any chance to be taken on after christmas
For any people wondering what to wear, don't go in wearing a boring outfit you would wear if you where going for an office interview.
Be smart/casual but also fashionable, wear something that reflects your personality and style, preferably clothes from Topshop, aslo wear jewellery aswell.
After my interview I heard back 3 hours later saying I had got the job
I hope this helps guys! Good Luck xo
