No because, if for arguments sake, all the data you collected was around the line y=10 then the line of best fit would go near enought through y=10

I'd have thought anyway
what if the line is linear (directly proportional) : drop height and bounce height
Even if the theory says it should go through the origin, don't force it to as you have to account for reading errors.
even if you use a video camera capturing 30fps?
do I still have to account for reading errors?
so should I draw the line without going through the origin but only around my results?
thanks

in most cases it should be pretty dam obvious wether a line or curve goes through the origin. e.g. if you plotted a graph of how much beer you had drunk against how drunk you get then this MUST go through the origin.

In many cases this point is the only one that the line MUST go through. It doesn't have to go through any others, just be as close as possible to as many as possible.

Common sense should determine whether it should go through the origin.

There may always be zero errors - last nights beer still in the system todayfor example
