PCs @ cambridge

Okay, I'm starting at Robinson this year and I could do with so info about what I need to do with my Computer. Two questions really:

a) Do I need to get my own computer a firewall?

b) I have linux installed which I never use (with Windows as the main OS), and I read somewhere that students using unix based systems need to spend several hours updating their system every week, so do I need to uninstall linux?

firstly, cam has a uni-wide licence for mcafee virusscan (v7) which is constantly updated and free for everyone to use... basically you don't need to worry about setting up you're own firewall as the servers r pretty rock.

i'd email the comp guyz, [email protected], esp max bowsher who's particularly clued up on linux. keeping linux shouldn't b a problem, but i'm not an expert on it!
