Right, I just read "What is an emotion?" by William James, and the bloke seems to have no idea what is going on.

His thesis seems to be based upon the idea that emotions come after the bodily change and reaction to a situation, not before or during, yet he poses several ideas which IMO are more reasons as to how he is wrong.


Don't have time to read the James, but the 'bodily reaction first, conscious emotion second' thesis has at least some modern-day scientific support - try Looking For Spinoza by Antonio Damasio.
