Ooh what city did you go to? I went to Hargeysa and Borama.

I stayed mostly in Hargeysa but went to Berbera for a day. Loved the sea. I remember when i was there telling my mum why don't we have a house here and she said because Berbera is for people of "x" tribe..lol.
I actually saw a Somali in the crowd at the Royal wedding :teehee:

You guys who haven't been to Africa are missing out! If you ever have the chance, definitely go. It really opens your eyes (in a metaphorical and literal sense, there are some beautiful places out there!)

Last time I went there was in 2006, I went to Hargeysa and Berbera but it was such a long time ago that I want to go back. Hopefully I could see more of the country, specially the countryside

I want to visit Saylac (sp?) next time I go there, I've seen pictures and it's really beautiful.
I was just searching "Somaliland" and "Somalia" into twitter (as one normally does lol) and came across these interesting tweets from a journalist (with 1,000,000+ followers), just thought i'd share them.

Well...

He isn't lying, Somalia has to sort itself out first before merging or Somaliland will be taken down to anarchy with it.

Somaliland is just another phantom frontier to dissociate Somalia and its people.

There is no doubt that the people who are an enemy of the Somali people would gain unimaginably from the formation of Somaliland but we must not forget the gain of the people of Northern Somalia, at least in the short term.

How so? Do you think that they will use Somaliland to their advantage?

a) strength lies in unity, b) divide and conquer.

You ever heard of divide and conquer or are you just another pathetic nationalist? You hear David Cameron praising Somaliland's 'genuine democracy' he and others have successfully dismantled Somalia.

What's currently the point in uniting the two if the people ferociously oppose it, aren't there more important things to be done without the loss of life?

It's not a genuine democracy but it is mainly peaceful with a functioning government  only you the supporter of Al Shabab ffs would see that as a bad thing.

lol David Cameron and others have dismantled Somalia? No they didn't. That was down to the people in the North. The referendum in 2001 97.9% of Somalilanders wanted an Independant state so please don't make things up. Also Cameron can praise it all he likes but fact is Somaliland is not recognised as an independant state anwhere in the world.

Thanks for calling me a pathetic nationalist :h: I personally would love an Independant Somalia but right now it isn't going to happen with all the conflict going on in the South.

Exactly. Somaliland and Somalia won't, probably, be ever united. The application of divide and conquer to Somalia's situation is fallacious. No one is planning on conquering Somalia. The only people I see attempting to conquer are al-shabab. I'd rather have a divided, prosperous Somalia as opposed to as united, unprosperous Somalia. Uniting Somalia and expecting success is akin to asking a D-level student to produce A-level work, it just isn't going to happen.

I knew you were going to say something like that. But I doubt anyone would be using somaliland to their advantage to conquer Somalia. We might not get along with each other but using Somaliland as some sort of strategical point in invading Somalia for example would not sit right with Somaliland. Plus by strengthening our ties by trade or military assistance for example, while having two independent governments would be akin to having a united Somalia.
