Wow, somali connections
(Original post by Maple)
No its not that, its not with an official organisation. Last summer I did a lot of medically related work experince and my uncle asked me if I was doing the same this year and I told him I'm not (changed my mind about med, firmed chemeng). So he suggested that I do work experience in Somalia, not necessarily doing the things I do as a healthcare assistant but nevertheless he said it'll be worth it. He and my aunt know Edna Adan - this woman who built her own hospital in Hargeisa and not only did my amazing uncle get me a four week placement with her. He also managed to get me a volunteering position at Berdera hospital in Somalia - not exactly sure where in Somalia it is
- but it'll be different to hargeisa thats for sure as its more of a university hospital than a proper clinic. One of my friends is going with me, and with us being Somali all it took for her parents to let her go was a discussion over tea
Berbera is north of Hargeysa on the coast of the north sea, I only went there once just for the beach so I can't tell you much about the city
Yeah it is, I was very surprised by the heat and humidity since Hargeysa wasn't as hot but the beach makes all worth it.

Berbera as city is very HOT place... I think you can break the egg on the rock and it will fry by itself.
