    Re: The Liverpool F.C. Society
    anyone else think (can't believe i am saying this lol) but think it would better to have a natural holding midfield player like Mascherano instead of Alonso in CM next to Gerrard.
    I heard a comment during the Derby game that clicked with me. As Alonso is not naturally a holding player Gerrard tends to sit back more but with Sissoko or Mascherano he goes forward more often which is why he recent goals scored tally the past 10 games is exfellant i think as Alonso has been out for a while.
    Personally i would prefer Rafa to play the same formation as in Valencia with 2 holding midfielders and a playmaker behind a sole striker.

    Using Masch or Momo certainly has given Gerrard more license to roam around the pitch and does seem to have rejuvenated him. You're right, it's no coincidence that Gerrard's goal tally has soared since Alonso's injury. However, i think that Alonso adds a lot more balance to the team. We just look more 'right' and i feel more comfortable when we have Alonso there. He hasn't been at his best for a while, but if he can get close to his best again, then we'll be in a great position.

    I don't think it'll be long before we see Rafa play Gerrard on the right again, with Alonso and Masch in the middle and Kewell on the left. He'll use that formation for the big games i think, particularly away. It's what i expect/want to see us play against Inter.

    Liverpool snap up teenager Cooper
    Gifted youngster Alex Cooper was a target for several clubs

    Liverpool have signed Ross County's highly-rated teenager Alex Cooper in a £100,000 deal.

    The 16-year-old winger, who has won caps for Scotland at junior level and was a target for Chelsea, is the son of former Aberdeen star Neale Cooper.

    Cooper has signed a contract with the Anfield club until 2011.

    His father Neale, said: "He could have gone to one or two other clubs but he just loved the way he was treated by Liverpool when he was there."

    Geez how big is our youth now? :eek:
    If you throw enough %%%%%%%% on the wall, some will eventually stick.

    It's the only way with the lack of local talent coming through

    I totally agree Laevis, it's weighing up the good points against the bad points. even tho8ugh Alonso had just come back he was spraying balls all over the pitch against Derby. i hope Rafa does put Gerrard on the right again in the future, although i think Gerrard feels it's not his best position he might now believe he wil get more freedom on the right.
    He won the PFA player award when he played most of the season on the right, Rafa should tattoo that on his arm lol so Gerrard never complains to him.

    to be fair i haven't noticed Gerrard going forward much when Momo's around. Gerrard doesn't seem to trust him much, i remember a game where Momo was so shocking with his passing that Gerrard dropped really deep and sort of covered for Momo.

    i agree Laevis, i think the best place for Gerrard would be a free role for him on the right, with Alonso and Masch/Sissoko in the middle.

    Looks good, but i'd prefer Arbeloa on the left and Finnan on the right.

    Izaldo, that's some big spending, lad. I'd never have the %%%%%%%%ing money.

    Well, Arbeloa looks good on either side, but he's naturally right footed and IMO he's better than Finnan.. esp going forward!
    Finnan tends to stay back (even when going forward) and puts in a cross whereas Arbeloa has the confidence to go further with the ball or cross

    I like the idea of having a more fluid attack...
    You can either go
    4-5-1
    ..............Torres.....
    Kewell Alonso Gerrard Masch Babel
    or;
    ........Torres..Babel....
    Kewell Alonso Masch Gerrard
    or;
    ..........Torres.......
    Kewell Gerrard Babel
    ......Alonso Masch...
    or;
    .........Torres...
    ..............Gerrard....
    Kewell Alonso Masch Babel
    etc etc
    Can sub either Kewell/Babel for Yossi too :eek:

    Thats just on tickets, Its probably closer to one and a half grand if you factor in travel, food and bevarage costs. I'm genetically programmed to want a Meat and Potato pie at half time, for example! And the fact that one of those matches was overseas.

    Jack's will eclipse mine no doubt cuz he went Athens!

    I spent that on flights for 1 game

    Thats still a healthy figure though, considering you lived outside of Liverpool before september.

    750 just on tickets? Are you sure? If you take an average of £30 a ticket, probably on the low side, that's 25 games.

    You've probably spent more !

    I've been 22 matches this year. Its accurate to the nearest fiver. A few games were cheap because i bought A/C and one was free! (Shef Utd) Chelsea CL Semi i paid 80 quid for which emptied my account.

    Loads of games I sort spares on the day of the game etc, because i'm a lowly fancard holder!

    Im trying to work out my spends now...

    Last season was...

    19 league games - £600
    CL Games (7 games at 32 +£54 final ticket) - 278
    Domestic cup games - (3 games at 32) - 96
    Away games - (5 at avg of 30) - 150

    %%%%%%%% that.

    That doesnt include spends for any game, or flights to athens.
