King's College London (KCL) ~ Applicants for 2018 Entry

This thread is for everyone considering applying, or who has applied, to KCL for the September 2018 entry. Hopefully it can be a good hub for you to discuss any concerns, questions or anything else on your mind regarding the uni.

I am currently a postgraduate student who completed their undergrad at KCL too, so I'm happy to answer any questions.

Is General Paper considered?

General Studies and Critical Thinking is not accepted
Do batches of offers get given out now? Friends of mine have been given offers today for Psychology and Physics & Philosophy. I'm applying for PPE and I'm quite anxious.

I'm from Singapore and I haven't taken my A levels yet.
I am not sure what I got for my predicted grades (the school sent them a few days ago), but they should be pretty good.

Congratulations! So when did you send in your application? And what is your conditional offer like?
*Experience sharing*
I got my offer about shortly after I submitted my UCAS (in mid November...) , and I think it came 2-3 days after I got the acknowledgement email.
Time flies and I am now a year 2 student for biomedical sciences!

That's really cool! I'm applying for biomed too! Neuroscience actually. Real worried my personal statement's too academically driven for kcl tbh :/ do you mind me asking, what are the differences between biomed n neuroscience at kcl? I was wondering if biomed students choose a field of specialization in Y2-3
Should I send off my ucas application before tomorrow i applied for nursing

My personal statement was quite heavy in the academics part as I had a whole paragraph dedicated to a lung cancer research project I took part during the summer. Showing your academic ability isn't a bad thing:smile:

Normally I think differences between biomed n neuroscience at kcl is minimal. Neurosci student have their compulsory courses to take in year 2 and 3 and have less choices for other courses to take, but as a biomed student you could also choose to be neuroscience focused. In fact switching is possible, so biomed students can switch into a more focused degree or people who originally opt for a more focused program want to switch out. There is nothing too much to worry at this stage.

The difference between the two ,I suppose, only matters if you want to study abroad or enroll on a competitive course. Biomed students obviously have a wider range of study abroad destinations to choose from. And some popular courses can only be taken by biomed students and students in the relevant major.

I'm predicted 7 H1 and 1 H3 (I'm in Ireland). I think that's the equivalent of A*A*A*A
