Maybe it was Peterhouse, and the other colleges named after Him and the Trinity came afterwards?

Christ's was originally called God's House.

    No, not in the slightest.
Most of us would recommend whichever college seems right to you. Cauis takes lots of Medics, and so has a reuptation for being a Medicy college (like Churchill has the reputation for Scientists, and men. ). You will get an equivalent (though not identical) education at every college, and every college follows exactly the same course (because this is determined by the overarching department, which is central).

It is more realistic, and perhaps more helpful, to view the colleges as *residential* environments, and pick one with that in mind. Of course there are idiosyncracies in each college, but those are impossible to quantify and will have a different meaning for every individual. Essentially, there are FAR more similarities than differences between the colleges. Things like distance from the facilities you want (lecture blocks/town sports centre/centre of town/green fields), and the potential living environment, are probably more important. Saying that, a choice of colleges is hardly the most crucial aspect of the process, even though it's a bit confusing and people put such emphasis on it. If you have the opportunity to come and visit, and have a look around some of the colleges, that's by far the best way to choose -- and a gut reaction is just as good a way as any other method of choice.

No, I'd recommend a college that you like. Caius is good for some people, but it's not the right place for everyone, reputation or no reputation. Same for most colleges.

I'm doing Medicine at Clare, and to be honest I don't think I'd have done any better than I have if I'd gone to Caius. In fact in some aspects I think we're probably actually stronger, thanks to some of the staff we have on board being very supportive (and very skilled!).
