Here's an interesting write-up by some guy blogging development in iran:

It's about "Hyperstar" supermarket thats opened in that new monster "Persian Gulf Star Complex" shopping centre in shiraz:
    http://therealamirtaheri.blogspot.co...carrefour.html

I wonder if anyone is doing anything/thinking about how this will affect traditional bazaars etc... especially since the supermarket is selling at below the government sanctioned labelled prices.

    EDIT:
LOL @ how they translated حوله :
    Spoiler:
    Show

(Hyperstar is a brand franchise from the french Carrefour)

I think the bazaars will always be there as the traditional place of shopping alongside all the new shops and all, especially in places like mashad, shiraz and esfahan

    Really interesting article....

BTW have you guys heard about the pilot Hooshang Shahbazi who landed a Boeing 727 without nose gear last year?

In this article is a link to his website, for which he has created a petition against the sanctions for airplanes. Please sign this petition!

Did anyone watch the Olympic boxing earlier? The Iranian flag bearer Ali Mazaheri was disqualified after 3 (stupid) warnings. An absolute joke of a performance from the referee.

True, I love Behesht! Well, now that a number of people have joined I think i'll start with a discussion. So heres my question:

What special charcteristics have Persians and Iranians got that basically make us, us?

This can be your family, behaviour, looks, accent, anything really....

    I'll go first!

    1) We are addicted to tea, i think that my parents have tea at least 5 times a day!!

    (Original post by Democracy)
Hmmm I've never been to this behesht, whereabouts in london is it, and does it live up to its name? =P

Erm well I've noticed the Persian people (sorry "we") are resilient to invaders trying to change our traditions. Like after the 1979 revolution when those bastard mullahs tried to scrap the celebrations for eid nowruz, but the people went out on the streets and demonstrated.

On a less serious note, we all think it's really important to become dentists or doctors

I love Behest in west London, it opened my eyes
someone even opened a shisha place across the road called Jahanam
