AO1 AND AO2 history essay

well can anyone explain to me what will be the difference between the essays, if one was written to target AO1 only and while the other essay was a mix of both AO1 and AO2. how do they differ?

Assessment Objective 1 (AO1)=an understanding of appropriate concepts and the ability to make substantiated judgements.

Assessment Objective 2= (AO2), and the recall, selection and deployment of knowledge


but then there is
AO1a (the ability to recall, select and deploy historical knowledge and understanding of history in a clear and effective manner) and AO1b (the ability to present historical explanations showing understanding of history in a clear and effective manner).


what elements will the essays have? (i wont be suprised if i dont get a reply as my post is too confusing. sorry)
