Bachelors Degrees Abroad

This is probably going to sound like a pretty conceited question, but do bachelor's degrees in other countries teach up to the same academic standard as they do here?

I only ask because I've noticed they have (for example in NZ) much lower and less specific entry requirements. I realise that a lot of this is due to lower demand, but surely if they're taking on students who are already less knowledgeable in a certain subject, they're only going to be able to teach up to a certain level within the time constraints?

This is a genuine question, by the way. I'm interested in studying in New Zealand for a number of reasons. I've had a great period of reflection over the past few months after starting a BSc here in England and I'm considering a major change of direction. NZ would allow me to pursue this as I could get on a course that I don't have the necessary prerequisites to study here. Also, it's nicer.
