medical sciences = biomedical sciences?

as far as whoever looks at my statement is concerned, is biomedical science the same thing as medical science? The only place I'm applying to medical science at is edinburgh, everywhere else is biomedical science. In my personal statement, I've heavily mentioned biomedicine.

according to edinburgh's website, medical science comes under biomedical science...so it shouldn't really hurt my chances of getting in, should it?

I have no idea what medical sciences entail, read the description in the prospectus/website and compare?
