Someone around here had 'University of Oxford Fresher 2008' in their sig a couple of weeks ago, just days after receiving their (conditional AAA) offer...incredibly presumptuous. But maybe I'm just superstitious

It's probably the maths applicants who'll need to be careful, considering they'll probably have to meet STEP offers. I'd imagine most other applicants would be pretty confident of meeting their offers.

Almost... actually MI6. There's a big difference!

I have a friend there... there has been some special security put in place I've heard.

Funny story - Dearlove coaches rowing there and wasn't able to attend a race as he had a meeting in london. On the day he turned up at the race and when asked about the meeting replied "oh I cancelled it - the JIC can wait".
