I typed this earlier (before Nina responded), but my internet died:
It's more that it's helpful to have the skills that happen to dominate in Maths, rather than Maths itself being helpful.
The admissions tutors would not look at a Phil Application, see Maths A Level and say "Yes, we're having him!". Neither would they look at an App. without Maths and bin you.
Philosophy is one of these subjects where virtually any skills you acquire can be put to good use. It's funky like that. I don't know the overall statistics, but I know quite a lot of philosophers here and whilst some have Maths/Physics, others have English Lit/Sociology/History. It's the way you think that should get you an offer, and then it's getting your A grades that will get your place. It doesn't seem to matter what these As are in, so long as they're not all from subjects in the 'less helpful' list (in link above).
So, do the subjects youi're interested in, and enjoy them. And then apply the knowledge you gain to the Philosophy side of things, et voila!

Yeah, I'd imagine either the faculty reps or the heads of the Amoral Sciences Club will arrange some sort of mass meet-up, so will probably end up seeing you there!
