Yeah, you need to finish Gold by age 25 so if going direct, start at 23.

Look on the internet at the Duke of Edinburgh website or your local newspaper. Your local school or youth centre will most probably do it.

This is a request on my behalf. I am leaving TSR due to a number of reasons predominantly Mods being pathetic fags. Besides the point.

I am looking for a new leader of the D of E Society and i would like someone to nominate themselves as leader. Any offers will suffice.

May I ask what does being the leader of the D of E Society entail.

I suppose you would do them when your group does them but you don't have to do then at the week end as long as you can all do your expedition at the same time. As far as your activties go then you can do them when you want, I did my phys rec as hockey on a wednesday evening.

I would guess about 2 weeks by the time they register you and send you all the details such as you number.

yeah, practice one is always good cos you can piss around and get away with a lot more than on the real on for example burning rubbish and stuff.

God no, my scout leader would burn them and you if you brought pot noodles and super noodles cos they do not have anywhere near enough energy in them. What I used was british army ration packs cos they are boil in the back and contain lots of energy.

Having just answered a post about DofE sleeping bags I was wondering, would anyone like me to dig out the training material I put together on sleeping bags, rucksacs, tents and the like while I was at Blacks? It's mostly general stuff about types, construction, materials and so on and we used it as training both for staff and for the local DofE groups. If there's any interest I could post it up here or stick it in the Wiki I guess. Or failing that, have a look at the tech guide on the Field and Trek website.
Anyway, let me know if there's any interest.

Yeah, you could try and condense it down because I think there is a kit list wiki page branching off the main D of E award page.

EDIT: Here is the link to the page and there is a kit list on there.

    hello,

ive had my record book today. so excited!

    I have a few questions.

1)Based on your age you have to complete a particular award.I have to complete the gold award BUT i have never been part of the D O E before so I dont have bronze/silver. How can I get them?

    2) I have chosen what I would like to do in each sections: skills etc. Now, I would like to do ice skating...so, do I have to go to an ice rink and enquire about an instructor or does someone help me with this? And...is there any help with fees? :P

I think thats it for now...

by the way, did anyone feel nervous and excited when they recived their record book?

    2)
