If you're unsure it's worth noting that for 6 year courses with intercalated degree it's a compulsory component & how the course works (unless maybe you already have a degree then you can skip part of a year).
In 5 year courses there may well be the option once the course is underway to apply to intercalate after 2nd/3rd year of the standard course - although this might be based on preclinical grades/involve transferring & will move you into a different year group subsequently.
