Actually i don't think i understood what you meant, but if you talk about the tuition fees, i am considered as an EU student.. both UK/EU students will have to pay 3150 pounds per year(2008-2009!
I was talking about the maintenance cost.. Living in London seems much more expensive than living lets say in Leicester..

Last year I was afraid to choose Southamptonl, and I was afraid to fail or feel that I am stupid amongst others. But now I feel pity about that. EEE It is not about toughness (since you will have to study everywhere), but who you will study with. If you have enthusiastic teachers and mates it is brilliant and with best equipment it is platinum.

Dont repeat my mistakes

I was thinking about applying to Bristol for that course next year, can I just ask what your offer/ predicted grades are, and the subjects you are taking?

What made you pick Bristol? I can't decide between that, UCL and Southampton.

I don't really know...

It was just pretty high in the league tables and I did literally 5 minutes of research on it and just picked it...lol

I didn't intend to firm it back in September when making my choices so didn't give it much thought, but when I went to the open day I loved it and the people, it was great!

Yeah I really liked the open day as well. I just don't know if I have the guts to pick a firm yet.

Quite a lot, it all pays off in the end though.

That's earlier then I started (late march). Don't stress it, if anything I over-revised (learned a lot of pointless crap that didn't help towards the exam).

It's a pretty hard pick to make for me, i can't decide up on firming one of these: southampton, ucl or leeds. Any opinions about this?

For eee Strathclyde has the largest department. It has a number of research centres (including 3 EPSRC CDTs) and dominates the power academy- 17 from the 54 awarded went to Strathclyde. The research at Strathclyde has a rating of 5.
The league tables don't usually rate it well despite it being the largest and constantly getting research funding. This along with the fact that the uni is built on the EEE department and that it collaborates on many projects with the big English units. An example is the new Future Power Networks XDT which is based at Strathclyde but in collaboration with Imperial.
It's a good uni but doesn't have the name if UCL and Imperial despite having just as good employability and research prospects.

Largest != best.

Largest != best.

This is true, however in this case it gives you a lot of options- since the department has a number of well respected research groups students can decide what they would like to specialise in and focus on it- i.e. renewable energy, power systems, industrial control signal processing communications systems etc.
This is an advantage for students who are interested in studying EEE but do not want to commit to a specific field- they can decide after they have started studying and know what they find interesting.

You can't really go wrong with any of the good departments- Southampton, UCL, Imperial, Manchester and Bristol are all great departments.
I would say Strathclyde and Edinburgh are good too although Edinburgh is a smaller more specialised department.

It's all personal choice!
