Question!

Right guys, say if you got a really bad exam result in the first module of your AS subject in January (mine being module 1 for Business). But then you worked your ar*e off for the modules in June and resat the disastrous module in either June/January - would that stop you from carrying the subject on to A2?

Just that i really badly messed up my module 1 exam for Business last Wednesday and now i'm panicking badly!
Unless you fail it completely you should be able to carry it on to A2 anyway...
and don't panic!
A) you probably did better than you thought
B) retake it in summer along with your other modules to boost your grade up, they will look at your over all grade rather than how well you did in one module

not at all.. everyone messes up something.. otherwise no one would be doing retakes!

So like say i got a U or something really disastrous, or an E - would i still be able to resit them?

Lol, really bad panicker me!:P
Reply 4
I think that depends on your school... and how well you did in the other modules i'm guessing...

You can get a bad grade on one module and still pass the A level, if the other module grades are high.

and there are always summer retakes so don't panic.

Yeah! Mind ye, i've just speaking to a girl from my year who has been doing the AS since last year and was resitting it this January for the third time! And i asked her what she got and apparently the first time she got an E and the second time she got a D and reckons she's done worse this time! So looks like an E wouldn't be that bad!

And the marketing module should be absolute grand!

I got a U in one of my biology modules last year and managed to still get a D overall, and was allowed to carry on to A2 with it.

You can easily resit it though so im sure you'll be fine, even if it didnt go great this time! im sure you did better than you think though

hoping ive pulled my biol upto a B after my retakes fingers crossssssssssed.

Yes.

But resit that module just incase.
Aw I'm sure you'll be alrite, just make sure you concentrate on your other modules now otherwise if you keep worrying about the module you've done then it will bog you down working towards your other modules. You can always resit, plus you will be much more prepared for that wont you. Ganbatte! (Do your best!)

I know what you mean lol. I've messed up in January modules before, mainly because I was too lazy to do the work. I usually found I improved greatly in the summer exams.

They shouldn't really stop you carrying it onto A2. If it's below an E then they may but it really depends on you're sixth form. But if they do then they should have mentioned this to you in their prospectus or at the start of the academic year.

I reckon the module 1 is hardest in terms of the transistion you have to take from GCSE to A level and the fact that it is tricky in selecting the right part of module 1 into the questions in very limited time, I got a C in module 1 and then approached Module 2 and 3 differently and got A grades in them, then at AS I had an overall A, its all about exam technique.

I think i told you about that already, but your spec is Edexcel, so i dont know how the mark scheme works but it wont be much different from AQA.

For Knowledge, u just need to define the key term in the question at the start of ur answer and throughout the answer use specialist vocab.

For Application, answer in the context of the question, apply it specifically to the company.

For Analysis, explain both the pros and cons of what you put.

For Evaluation, tell the examiner what it depends on and how successful it will be and what can affect the decision the business takes.
