"It sounds to me like you think everything went perfectly, but I'm sorry - it obviously didn't and you need to figure out what went wrong and where."

The interviews went ok, not great, but what i mean is they didnt say anything about current issues or anything like that, it was just little problems which you can't really prepare for... i meant id probably end up in london jobwise too, not necessarily post grad study. not sure about that though. i get an impression of warwick being a bit average in terms of university life, especially when i went up there for a few days. any disputes there?

Hard for me to comment in terms of univeristy life: me being so old!

But Warwick has one of the biggest and best Student Unions, and hundreds of societies.

Unless you can clearly work out what went wrong in your interview and have a clear idea of how to do better next year, I just can't believe the gains from waiting a year justify the delay.

Additional information:
1. SATR Mathematics-710/800
2. SAT Math level 1-760/800
3. SAT Math level 2-780/800

I was invited for an interview at Corpus Christi College. My application was pooled and I was made a conditional offer by Newnham College. They had asked me for the following conditions:

Certified passes in two GCE A levels, with grade A in Mathematics and grade A in Further Mathematics; certified pass at grade A in AS level Physics. Grades 1,1 in STEP Papers II and III. 700 in SATR Mathematics, 700 in SATS Mathematics Level 1 and 700 in SATS Mathematics Level 2. You are also required to pass the IELTS assessment with an overall score of 7.0, with no lower than 7.0 in each individual element. We note that you have already achieved grade A in A level Mathematics (Pure) and will expect to see certification of this.

I acheived all the conditions but didn't make my STEP grades. I have obtained a grade 3,3 in STEP 2 and STEP3. My insurance offer (Imperial College London) was also unsuccessful because I fell short of an A grade in Mechanics 4 by three marks.

I had unconditional offers from St. Andrews and UCL, which I had declined.

What do you think I should do? Please advise me on whether I should do a third year of A levels (Further Mathematics Additional and Chemistry, along with an AEA in mathematics) and apply to Cambridge again. I would greatly appreciate any help that could be offered.

You should investigate clearing this year by ringing around unis today to see what your 09 options are.
Then if you can't find anything good you can re-apply to uni next year.

I imagine with your exceptionally strong grades, a gap year for a more considered reapplication will probably end up being the preferable option.
