I think (though am not certain) that personal data is typically held for 3 months, and if nothing new/relevant emerges with which to update the file, it is then destroyed. Exam scripts are almost certainly destroyed sooner, and they really don't like people seeing them because of all the challenges they anticipate. A friend of mine considered putting a DPA request in advance of sitting his exams...

I presume, on that basis, the Uni/College destroys the files of unsuccessful candidates quite quickly, and keeps the files of 'offers' candidates until the results come out in the summer.
