Dangers: get too cold- blankets, etc during+post op
    heart problems exerberated
some small furries will smell the gas and hold their breath till they suffocate
large animals pressure on organs when lying on side can cause damage

I remember one of the vets saying that allergic reactions are possible as well. The nurse has to keep an eye on the vein after the inducing agent has been administered for any sign of swelling or inflammation.
Reptiles are extremely difficult anaesthetics as they can hold their breath for long periods of time and wake up mid-operation!

Erections, as I found out after getting my tonsils out. To be honest, I didn't care and the nurse gave me a smile so it's all good.

Gotta be careful the stomach is empty so the animal wont vomit and choke. hence starving.

yeah yesterday i was at a vets and the owner of a cat had been stupid enough to put a bowl of tuna in its carry case thing. "luckily" it threw it up just after the premed, but they were removing lumps from its tongue which was not nice just after it had thrown up!

Speaking of rediculous owners we had a rabbit come in and there was a 'get well soon' card in the cage, I think the rabbit was a child substitute, odd none the less.

some of the things people have brought with them to the cattery and kennels to go in with their dog or cat are quite funny. we have had photos in frames, flowers, wooden mini statues, perfume (they wanted us to spray the cat once a day so the cat had a familar smell around it) and one woman even bought it a mobile phone to go in the cats bed! loads of people send postcards to their pets! its quite funny reading them..

    dear molly
i hope you are having a wonderful time back in suffolk, dont worry we havent forgotten you and i think about you every day. We went swimming today, you would of loved it if you were with us. i hate having to leave you. but dont worry we still manage to have a good time without you, however hard that sounds to be true. lots of love and cuddles mummy xxxxxxxxxxxx

thts pretty much how one went.....some are just so cringeworthy!

Not cool. That is not normal. I just can't get into their frame of mind. They do KNOW cats can't read right???

It's better than the people we have here that think poisoning cats is funny though;/

Yeah or taking pot shots at them, did anyone see on the TV the dog with a crossbow bolt through its scruff a while ago? What makes you want to shoot at an innocent animal?

I think one of the worst I've heard of was some youths cutting off a horses tail almost to the root with a chain saw....

    I prefer the post cards.

yeah we had some ***** down the other end of my village when we lived there who liked to shoot cats with air pistols. one cat had to have its leg amuptated. another had to be put down due to its injuries cause it got hot 3 times at close range.

I get SOO angry when I hear that stuff. You can really tell what kind of person someone is by the way they treat those weaker than them. It's really common here to poison animals with pesticides which are freely available. There's a hunting season
(which is funny as there is nothing left to hunt) and everyone has pointers as hunting dogs. There are some people who leave poison everywhere so that the dogs will die, so that they can buy new ones from them WTF!!

We've got a big woods near us, and people go fox-hunting there, although they say they're drag hunting. I found a dead fox one day, i cried for about an hour, they'd cut off its tail and everything :/. i hate people who are cruel to animals, i just dont understand how people can do it!!!! x

We have a large badge problem near me, way over populated, and every so often you find up to 4 badgers evenly spaced on the road, overnight, methinks farmers are shooting/poisening them and dumping them to make it look like an RTA.

they could at least try and make it a little less obvious........

like 15 years ago my cat spookey used to be a briliant hunter....he used to catch the loacl farmers phesants prehaps once every other week of something. the farmer didnt like this. He poored engine oil over one of my other cats (hes now 19 1/2) which took my parents ages to get off and he had to go to the vets to have a special shampoo and stuff. and then like 6 months later spookey disapeared, why? the farmer had bloodly shot him. bastard! but most farmers i know are nice.
