Question About Personal Statement

I want to do English Literature and combine it with another subject.

I've found a selection of uni's that combine Eng Lit with another subjects such as English Language, History etc, so those will be my "back up" uni's incase i get rejected.

At the moment i'm intending on applying for a uni that combines Eng Lit with Sociology.

So my question is: Should i just do an English Literature personal statement or an English Literature/Sociology personal statement?

An Eng Lit personal statement alone is more broad, therefore, i could apply for different uni's that offer both Eng Lit PLUS another subject combined, couldn't i?

Whereas an Eng Lit/Sociology PS is abit more specific which means if i get rejected from this uni that i'm applying for now, i'll have to start my PS all over again and edit the Sociology part so i can replace it with another subject.

So what do i do in this case?

Please help! Thanks in advance!
Are you applying through Extra? You havn't really made it clear....

I think the best thing to do is focus the main part of the PS on English Literature and then devote a large paragraph to all the subjects you do, and try and talk about Sociology a bit there.
