Ha i could've written that, PMH, Oak House and drinking all seem good to me. Good luck with your grades mate, they should let you in even if you don't quite get them, just ring up and beg if worst scenario actually happens.
The energy of a growing city

Please, we all know your looking forward to just getting drunk without your parents giving you grief for puking all over the new carpet. If you wanna go to a growing city, try Kabul.
Oh the tantalising trade off between getting shot and getting blow up...

I would recommend the growing city of Mazar-e Sharif in that case.. With Afghan/Pashtun population it's somewhat calmer than the southern parts - still a nice party city (well, at least the European military camps), a famous Mosque and beautiful nature. Close to the Uzbekistan border if you need to evacuate.

Who here has lived in Manchester or has at least visited? Care to elaborate on what exactly the city is like - in more detail? I will be seeing the city for my first time on September 16th.
I would think a lot of people who have it as their firm have at least visited, but from the perspective of someone who does not live in the city:

Since the 1996 IRA bombing the majority of the city centre has been regenerated, the city -regarded by many as Britain's Second City- has a very good shopping centre, social scene, and with three large universities orbiting the city, it is very student friendly. On September 16th the chances are you be introduced to one of the better social circuits in the UK. When you wake up in a ditch the next morning, it could be one of many national parks which are close to the city, which are also good if you like the outdoors.

The downside is that Manchester has an issue with gun crime, and outside of the regenerated areas of the city, it can get rather grotty.

Its a nice city, something for everyone. And very shiny.

Hard to visit when you're living abroad :frown:
I take it you weren't asked to interview then?

Got it by phone
By phone? I had to spend $4000 USD to fly to an interview with Cambridge only to get rejected...
