What does "with honours" actually mean?


i believe it is when sometimes get's a first (ie. highest possible grading) in their degree.

its not tho. my sister got 'wtih honours' and only managed a 2.2

Basically it means you passed.

Well no, you can get pass without honours but that is pretty much a fail!

It means it's an honours degree. A pass degree is an easier type of degree, often given to people who've failed to get a third. Almost all degrees are honours degrees.

1sts, 2nds and 3rds are honours degrees
Ordinary is below thirds, without honours and under the cambridge system normally indicates a fail (though doesn't technically).
