Re: To those who run cars whilst at Uni.I also get the 75/76/77 to Bedminster, from the Arches. I don't see what's wrong with them. You only occasionally get chavs (then again, maybe that's because I only go on that route at 8am / 12pm on a Saturday) and I'm yet to come across anyone with a personal hygiene problem.(Original post by Silver Fox)
which part of bristol? - I get the buses along the gloucester road corridor and they are all fairly nasty.
My mum (who doesn't live with my dad) doesn't have a car, and so she gets the shopping delivered. You can sometimes even get it for free if you get a voucher or online code for it. -

Ah.. but you can't pick out the good vegetables and meat if you do that. -
Re: To those who run cars whilst at Uni.if you want decent meat and veg you shouldn't be in a supermarket.(Original post by Silver Fox)

If you would need to get the 70's down near the arches you should be close to the local groceries and butchers. They will be able to give you much better quality and usually it's cheaper, or better value.
And I get the 54 most often (wells road/stockwood direction) sometimes get other buses, occasionally 43/4 (think thats the number) and ones that go out of city bounds.
Used to get the ones you do regulary. don't remember ever seeing chavs on them. Was one of the nicer (If not VERY slow) routes.
Never really had a problem with chavs on the buses. -
Re: To those who run cars whilst at Uni.
Don't really have an overall budget, car costs next to nothing though...
Parking is free this year.
Fuel, fill up twice in a semester, once before I go down and once when I come back home halfway through the semester (£30-£40/time).
MOT & Service, 6 months apart so I don't get the costs altogether, but about £180 total. Nothing major needed doing in the last couple of MOTs, so no maintenance costs apart from a couple of new tyres, so,
Maintenance: ~£50 for the last year.
Insurance, I pay all at once because it's cheaper, think it's about £580 this year.
So, not counting fuel over the summer, the total comes to just over £1000 last year= just over £100/month for the 8months I'm at uni.
Think that works about £22/week, but I pay insurance with money earned working over the holidays, so it's not that accurate, and I don't use my car every day.
In total I could get away with under £50 a week including running the car, but I probably spend around £70 or so.
