What does everyone think of the new EIHL structure?

As a Caps fan, it only benefits us.

I'm watching, last exam today. Few bottles of Hoegaarden and an unnecessarily large takeaway. heaven.

Soft goal for broeder to let in there

Slow start to the game but the kings were beginning to show their physical dominance just before they scored

Kings have been better so far, but Devils picked it up towards the end of the second and got a lucky rebound off Quick.

So far, Kings have had the edge. They know our game, and they're doing a damn good job from keeping us away from it. Horrible goal given up by Brodeur, but eh, that's Marty.

Recipe to beat Quick right there at the Dev's goal. He's an excellent goalie, but only when he feel in control of the crease. Get in his face, cut through the crease and don't let him get comfortable in goal. Also important to keep in mind that he's not the most experienced goalie around.

Been a good strategic game in the first, started to develop in the second. We're in for an awesome third.

Kopitar is cool as ****. Smoooooth hands gives Kings the win in OT. He's done it all tonight to be fair, strong on the puck, good fore check and finishes with a nice move on Brodeur.

I think the Kings edged it when they got their skates moving, was by no means a walkover though, the Devils had their chances.

The Kings just edged it last night, I'm expecting the Devils to win the next game though.

As a Panthers fan I think it would be better for us so we can play Blaze, Steelers, Devils and Giants more which should make the seasons more exciting. I suppose time will tell though if it's a good idea or not, looking forward to see how it goes

I don't know who to cheer for, not a big fan of either of those teams :P will properly lean towards kings as Jonathan Quick has been a beast in the playoffs.

Quick has been class. Brodeur has been excellent too.

Interesting line from @emptynetters (worth a follow for sure) is that this is the first season in a while he's played less than 70-odd games and *amazingly* that's led to a deep playoff run.

As a Pens fan I hope we learn from that and stop grinding MAF into the ground (2 x 70+ GP seasons after the cup win = 2 early playoff exits)

what a start to game two. Devils flying until a pp kills their own momentum and allow the kings into it who then snatch one.

And now the devils have another penalty.

Contrast this with game one where 8 minutes in there had been about 1 shot and a billion face offs and no penalites.

Dear God, we should really stay away from powerplays.

And someone please tell Kovalchuk these are actually the Stanley cup finals.

lol. yeh that first powerplay completely changed the game imo. Kings had no idea and you were bound to score soon, then on the powerplay the kings got focused and could easily have score shorthanded.

Quick playing a blinder too, obviously. Looks like broeder got a touch on the goal too, so maybe he could have saved it. But it barely flicked his jersey so i'm not sure

Kovy is playing injured isnt he? I'm always wary when criticising players in the playoffs as so often they are playing through injuries. Gaborik for example got stick this year until people it came out that he tore his labrum and was playing through it for weeks.

    And we have OT...

yeah MAF is overplayed by a fair bit, it's disappointing to see Pens go out so early I quite like them, which is surprising as everyone hates crosby even thouh we all know he is probably the best player in the world when he is not injured, but atleast you guys have Malkin as a replacement

Anyway I found myself cheering for the kings last 2 games Their play sometimes reminds me of my fave team, Red Wings

I would like to think so, but I don't think that's the case. When he's skating, he doesn't seem injured. Just in a slump.

He was injured in our opening series against the cats, had a hamstring and could barely skate. He was benched for game 4 (I think?) and then came back healed.

This game was a carbon copy of game 1. After devils pressure, kings get the first goal from what didn't look like the most organised team effort, Brodeur is surprised the kings have actually shot the puck and thinks for a minute about it while the puck goes in the net. Devils work their asses off missing enough chances for 10 games, Quick is brilliant, they get a goal just before the end, and in overtime they again miss on all their scoring chances and lose.

It's frustrating to watch, kings are not even dominant or outplaying us, but they are still getting the wins. Devs seriously need some motivation. And the Kovalchuk we paid so many millions for.

If kings win game 3, they're the new champions.

not sure how the kings are winning tbh, devils have been way better (as they were in most of game two) that spell of powerplays involving the 5-3 was awesome.

This is turning out to be our worst game so far. They look like they don't even care who wins, no effort, no hustle, no smart plays, no nothing. At this point, we don't deserve to win.

As a somewhat neutral I'd disagree. 2-0 is very very harsh. Kings have had the better chances but devils have had more. The kings chances seem to be sort of breakaways. well up until the kings scored the devils were bossing it

Admittedly i fell asleep during the 2nd intermission in game one but I was really unimpressed by the devils in game one, they didn't do anything at all until the 37th minute or so. And even that was sparked by the kings gifting them a turnover in a promising position. that seems like their worst game.

    edit:

    lol 3-0 series over.
