Re: Do you have a credit card?Well i have 3(Original post by matty600)
Why do you need four?
one i use for my day to day spending, paid off at the end of each month
one i use online for foreign transactions (nationwide, no charges), paid off at the end of each month
one i use to collect nectar points (nectar amex), paid off at the end of each month
And am thinking of getting a john lewis one as we are buying a house soon and would be good to earn points on all the stuff we were going to buy from JL anyway, pls interest free for 9 months and none of my other cards have interest free on them anymore. -
Re: Do you have a credit card?:O a John Lewis card! I would recommend a Debenhams card, you can get 10% off on all your purchases for a week there! (Not that I am biased towards my store of course... lol)(Original post by iTalya)

Re: Do you have a credit card?I do not wish to shop in Debenhams. Plus they don't do most of the things we need. JL has a nicer atmosphere.(Original post by matty600)

Re: Do you have a credit card?
At the moment I'm not a student.
I have 4 credit cards.
I use one card for my day to day spending. Much safer than pretty much shoving my bank account into someone's card reader.
I never rack up more than I can clear the following month.
Other reasons I have them are for general emergencies. If some unexpected event happens that requires my money.. I have access to thousands. -
Re: Do you have a credit card?
Er Lauren... if you don't spend on it each month and pay off the balance then just applying for it + getting accepted won't help your credit rating... you need to use it responsibly.
Ie: Order a new card, put 1 thing on it each month and set up a direct debit to pay off the balance each month. Thus putting a tick on your credit report for every payment you make. -
Re: Do you have a credit card?I was told not using the card looked good on a credit report? So when companies do a credit search they see a credit card with nil balance (and nil debt)?(Original post by iTalya)

Oh well, LOL. This is why I don't trust bank people.

Re: Do you have a credit card?
I have one. I use it for buying online/overseas, and just for general non-cash purchases. It's also reassuring to know I have access to some money in case of some sort of emergency.
I use online banking, so I normally just pay off whatever I've spent on the day/the next day. I'll also pay in when I'm anticipating spending, so at the moment I have a credit balance. -
Re: Do you have a credit card? They want to know that you can be trusted to borrow money and pay it back and having a card and not using it doesn't show that.(Original post by LaurenFah)

Re: Do you have a credit card?Meh, I'm not using it regardless. But I kid you not, the woman in Halifax told me cutting the card up and not using it would look good on a credit report.(Original post by la fille danse)
