Why do you love / hate ducks?
Because I, for one, welcome our new aquatic overlords.
Why do you wear women's underwear?
Everyone is doing it, and it makes me feel accepted.
Would you like to join any societies?
I have absolutely no idea o_o Anime & Manga perhaps, FragSoc perhaps, Music, Scifi/Fantasy maybe. I absolutely ADORE QI on BBC, and I just found a society for it as we speak. I am IN! -
Re: York General Chat ThreadI managed to log in yesterday but every link I clicked took me to the E-vision updating page.(Original post by MPN)
Just a quick question; can't you also access the You@York portal due to UCAS Track updating? -

Re: York General Chat ThreadNobody will tell how it is with New Langwith as it's not being opened until this Oct(Original post by justn1c2)
I'm going to apply to Goodricke or Langwith, but can't decide.
Can someone give me more information about the two, i know all about the accommodation side but I want to know more about reputation and stuff, what it's like to live there.
This was posted from The Student Room's iPhone/iPad App
We can only assume it's gonna be similar to Goodricke.
If you want both premium en-suite and only 39 week lets then Goodricke has only 1 block whereas New Langwith will have about 6 blocks with such type of room and lenght of let so the competition for such room type may be higher in Goodricke than in New Langwith
Apart from that I heard they want to open new bars and attraction for students there so it's supposed to become even more livelierLast edited by MPN; 22-08-2012 at 08:40. -
Re: York General Chat ThreadHey new York freshers! Congratulations on getting a place at York. I'm a member of YSTV, the student television station at York (one of YUSU's 150+ societies that you can join!), and we've made the Guide to Colleges 2012, a video guide to the eight colleges to help get you started thinking about accommodation.(Original post by MPN)
Nobody will tell how it is with New Langwith as it's not being opened until this Oct
We can only assume it's gonna be similar to Goodricke.
Take your time to explore the variety of accommodation and the different personalities of the colleges available. It does include Langwith, I filmed it on the day it was handed over to the university from the construction company, so we're the first students to see inside - hopefully it will help!
If you like our video, comment and share it. Ask if you have any questions just ask. We look forward to seeing you in October, and maybe you'll even join YSTV!

Re: York General Chat ThreadYou're asking on a York subforum, so expect to get slightly distorted answers. It's Russell Group, though, and top 10 for a lot of stuff. I can't say I know much about the law department though(Original post by Harry Callahan)
I'm only 16 (started Sixth Form in September) so wouldn't be applying till next year but I'm interested in York Uni. Is it a good uni? What's it like in a general sense? Is the Law department good?
cheers. -

Re: York General Chat Thread
Hi :3
First name: Aiya
Course:Economics
Fave music: Pretty much anything, I just love noise
Fave film: I really have not seen enough films. Though I do love the Star Wars Series (I watched it I,II,III,IV,V,VI so I don't hate the additions :P) I go through phases, but anything Marvel or Comedy is something I'd love. Though Chick flicks have to be in small doses for me, I can't stand a lot of sop and vacuous repetitive crap, so very few make the cut :P
Fave drink: Teaaaa, Lattes, Martinis, and water (I basically inhale the stuff the second I get my hands on a bottle/glass)
Fave food: Chocolate and cake, obviously, nom nom nom nom nommmm. I like most things hottt, with cheese or tomatoey... I add chilli pickle to everything atm (you may judge).
Fave book: I am really bad at reading. I used to read a pocket sized book a day when I was obese and in middle school. spent all day just rolling from one book to the next. Then I went to high school, and read like 2 books in 3 years :L I remember loving anything by Garth Nix though. I'll learn to enjoy reading again
Age: 18 (though I look 8)
School you went to - state, private or boarding: I went to a State Arts school in Suffolk, then they cut all the academic subjects I wanted to do, resulting in me somehow managing to squaggle myself a large scholarship in a Private school in Cambridge.
York-specific questions
Why do you love/hate ducks?
Duckies are adorable. The amount of duck games on newgrounds cracks me up. There is this one adorable 8 bit one where the music in the background is made entirely of quacks. Also, my brother has a fear of duck and geese, since he was chased by one as a child. It is a wonderful thing for a 25 year old grown man running away from a duckling in fear of its crabby mother.
Why do you wear women's underwear?
Because I love underwear! They don't judge me like other women's clothing. Being 5ft1 its impossible to find most clothes that suit and fit me, but underwear never fails me. I trust women's underwear, therefore I wear it as a badge of honour.
What Societies/Sports?
Debating, United nations (I think there is one), Cocktails, Pole dancing, Baking, QI, Economics and possibly Rowing and LGBT, since its description sounded like it would be a bit of fun and I to find me a gay best friend. Though I don't know how many you're allowed to have.Last edited by Daisydropper; 07-04-2013 at 18:08.
