I've probably had maybe one bad politics lecture here, the rest have been really good. It's a really nice department, I do not understand why it isn' judged more highly, perhaps because of it's focus on media and politics?

Probably not a similar situation but I looked at UEA in the tables 2007-08 and it was 40-50 in CS, now I looked and its 31 or 32nd in CS, big jump and it must have made a dramatic jump. My other choice Sheffield which sits comfortably in the Top 15 I think.

I might go to another Open Day and say I'm applying for 08 entry, it would help to get an even better idea I suppose.
YES - I am now travelling 3599 miles from my home here in the USA to meet with the greatest authority on the planet - Professor Nicholas Vincent at UEA - on both the Plantagenet family and 12th and 13th century England. I have downloaded two of his lectures in anticipation of our meeting and from an American point of view there is not an American medievalist alive today that can compete with his commanding and often witty scholarship. I’m interested in pursuing a Ph.D. but I am unsure of myself I have a Mid-Atlantic accent - and even though I have an ancient British lineage for the past 400 years my family has been living in a regional backwater. How does one prepare oneself? How does one pay homage to Professor Vincent - the “Academic King” of Medieval History?

Nicholas Vincent is actually a full professor. He earned the title, might as well give it to him  .

Are you into medieval history starchild?

My liege lord, Caspar David Friedrich and My Seigneur Starchild,

Before you shrug off the modest brilliance of Medievalist Professor Nicholas Vincent at UEA, consider my perspective I am not only the 25th great-granddaughter of King John of England by at least two women that he molested --- but also the 23rd great-granddaughter of William de Braose who along with his mother, Maud de St. Valery –were starved to death by my foresaid ancestor, King John. And how do I even know all this?

It’s because of Professor Vincent’s incredible story-telling and “Sherlock Holmes-like” research abilities that their stories are finally being heard in contemporary English rather than obscure Latin. The point here is that Professor Vincent may be a Medievalist by profession but by instinct he is an unparalleled ‘hip’ champion of fundamental human rights.

Hence, in my humble opinion Professor Vincent is medievalist cool!!!!!! And his luxurious voice even the “Three Witches” in Shakespeare’s MacBeth would turn and swoon with stars in their eyes!

Professor Nicholas Vincent is a rare thinking woman’s “Robin Hood” - a princely scholar, a jocular courtier, with a kingly prowess in all matters of history - great and small.
