    Japanese at Trinity
11 days left until my interview! For those of you who have been invited to interview already, are your interviews taking place in the AMES department or your chosen college?

Same, I'm also having mine at the college.
Woah...just thinking about it makes me nervous and I'm sure we all feel that! But, best of luck.

Ah, I'd assume that mans your college doesn't have a resident d.o.s in AMES, or in your language at least... what are you studying?

Oh my bad, mine is actually in the faculty. The other one says the place is a letter and a number but not which college or if it's in the faculty. But the interviews aren't Japanese professors so I'm presuming it'll be at the college. :L Complicated. XD

I took Japanese. Maybe that's because I've written that I can already talk in Japanese a little bit so they decided to check it out? Oh well

Best of luck to you! I can't imagine all of the extra stress you must go through as an international applicant, I've been panicking about travel and I live 50 minutes away

    Howdy.

Anyone out there starting an AMES PhD this autumn?

(I expect it's unlikely because I haven't used TSR properly for a few years and the forums seem to be a lot quieter than they were. Still, worth having a go...)

Re: The Cambridge Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Thread
    Hello there !

I have a few question about the course and I thought someone here could help
I've been studying Chinese for 3 years now and this year I got the HSK 3. In August, I'm going to China for a year for my gap year - I'll be doing a one-year Chinese language program at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
I still don't really know if I want to study Chinese at uni but I hope my gap year will help me figure this out.
So I wanted to know more about Chinese at Cambridge. What do you think of the course ? How is the level of Chinese language ? Is the study of modern China and modern Chinese important or is the classical aspect emphasized ?

    Thank you in advance !
