It was one of those pens that you have to unfold(Original post by vienna95)
apparently it was his spine showing when he folded his arms. Democrats are evidently sceptical, as they are yet to find one in either of their candidates.
hmm, should I be surprised that the UK press runs this gossip and not the rather more credible suggestion that Kerry sneaked a white piece of paper to the first debate. the Democrat party dismissed it as being a pen....which would also be in breach of the debate rules.

I'm not quite sure how a piece of paper with no stationery to write upon it would be much use in a debate...
Unless Kerry folded it up into an aeroplane and threw it at Bush to put him off. I did notice that Dubya was as inarticulate as ever. He might know what he's talking about, but he certainly doesn't sound like he does! -
It's the fact that the 36 (?) page rule book said you're not allowed one that makes it important.(Original post by Will)

Being unpopular because you are too frank is what has brought several governments down over the years, including the Duke of Wellington's. Although this is 'dodging,' you could argue that being overly frank and I hesitate to say...occasionally tactless is a poor quality if you're trying to get an argument across.(Original post by psychic_satori)
Being unpopular with people who dislike honesty isn't a bad thing.
People, by their nature, will be more likely to accept something couched in gentler terms. -
