Default Advice on mobile phone issues?

I'm an international student. I have no idea how mobile operators in UK work. Can someone explain to me about it? What are the plans offered? Prepaid? Post-Paid? BEst operator? Purchase of mobile phones?
Thanks for your help in advance! ^^

Hi there
In the Uk you can have either a contract phone where you pay monthly for a certain amount of minutes and text or pre pay where you put a certain amount of money on your phone aka top up such as £10 and you can use your phone till its runs out.

Contract or pay monthly depends on how much money you have in general

If I were you I would go to a phone place such as Carphone warehouse or the link etc and maybe talk to a consultant to see what would suit you and don't let them force you into buying a contract!

The known operators are:T-Mobile,02,Vodafone,Orange and Virgin
There are others but the above ones are the known ones.
Everyone has their own personal experience on mobile phone operators look for one that suits you the best but gives you vale for money.I'm with vodafone at the moment and I'm planning to change soon...

You can purchase mobile phones nearly anywhere from tesco and Asda to carphone warehouse just make sure you buy a real phone and don't let someone fob you off with a fake phone.

Hope this helps....
If you need any more info from me PM me.
Have a nice day

Yeah, just to add to that - 3 are pretty good. I'm with them (contract) and my phone's great and I can get signal anywhere. I don't know if you're the same, but I used to be on pay as you go with Vodafone and you can barely get signal where I live! It was really hard to top up with them too - it got to the point where for some reason my online account was locked and I could only do it by credit card. It was a nightmare!
