Question Backpacking Cornwall - questions

Well I dont have the money this summer to travel abroad so Ive been thinking of travelling around cornwall for a few weeks (or however long it takes); would love to visit Lands End, St Ives, Newquey, Falmouth to have a look at the uni, and smaller places in between. Just wondering if anyone has any views on this.. would it be boring? Would I meet other travellers along the way, how easy is it to get acommodation?
I'll be going alone, a bit worried about the sort of people id meet. Ive been before on family holidays and from what I can gather alot of rural villages arnt keen on tourists. Should I stick to more touristy places like the ones I listed. Would there be other independant travellers around? Is it relativley safe? Has anyone done it before?

Anyhoo sorry for all the questions, thanks if you can help

I'm not going to be of any help, but i'm reading Bill Bryson's "notes from a small island" and it's making me want to have a look around the UK. It would be really nice to explore the country i live in.

Following the coastal path around Cornwall is a suggestion - not the whole thing but North Coast in particular. Then perhaps get some form of transportation to Penzance and go to Lands End.
What type of accommodation are you after?
Rural villages will be fine: they'll put on a smile, because they need the money at the end of the day.
Yes its relatively safe although doing it with someone else would be advantageous - or else it may get a bit tedious.
If you've got the time, then by all means do the whole coastal path and you'd hit all your favoured destinations.

The coastal paths a great idea, i'll definatly look into that especially because the majority of places I want to visit are on the coast.
As for accommodation-Im not really sure, I was thinking probably hostels or b&b's

You will definitley find other travellers around the more popular destinations, particularly Newquay. The "scene" around the rural villages is non-existent however, you will be very much on your own, unless you like Homemade Jam competitions etc.!

Coastal path is a great suggestion, although you may need to book your accomodation in advance, with the exception again of Falmouth, Newquay etc which have hostels you can rock up to on the day. There are B&B's all over the place but they will be very in the summer so it's sensible to book in advance, even if it's just the day before.

It's also very safe, even in the chavvy areas where I live (North Cornwall area)!

Highlights: Mousehole, Sennen, the Minack Theatre, St Ives, the Eden Project, Trebah and various other garden/house places like Heligan, Any bit of coast path - Land's End in either direction, Lamorna-Mousehole, around Prussia cove, the mines around Botallack, Geevor, St Michael's Mount, Roskilly's ice cream...

A subjective note on Land's End... It has got amazing scenery, but the stuff they've built there is pretty terrible. Bad exhibitions, a Dr Who museum thing, a model sweet shop...
Also the food you can buy there is really shocking (turkey twizzler style, unless you go in the hotel which is very expensive and mostly reheated frozen stuff), so i would advise bringing your own or eating before you get there. If you can live without seeing the exhibitions (which i really think you can) then go early - 9am or late - 5 or 6pm and just have a look off the end then walk around to Sennen or Portcurno. That won't disappoint.

Yeah Lands End has become way too commercialised, Im interested in going there in a hope to find out more about the Lands End to John O Groats Walk which I want to do one day. The places youve suggested are briiliant, ive been to a few which id love to see again.
