Forensic Psychology

Hi, I am just finishing my very boring :frown: law degree and am genuinly interested in studing forensic psychology maybe with a bit of social or bio anthropology in UK /preferably London.
Could somebody give me any recommendations on unis with such a programm??
I seem to be able to find some stuff but at such universities as Dundee and Middlesex. Those are not the most respectable ones in UK so I am wondering if the degrees would be wort something....
Thnx

York do an MsC in Forensic, but I doubt you'd get into any without a lot of psychology experience. I'd recommend getting some experience first - psychology is very competitive! Hospitals, counselling, prisons etc etc would all be good. There are very few places that do BsCs in forensic, as it's quite specialised, though many do criminology, but as you said, they tend not to be some of the highest in the league tables.
You will need to do a conversion course which is recognised by the BPS before you can persue a postgrad in Psych.

Have a read around on the BPS website
http://www.bps.org.uk

Edit: That is, if you're talking about a postgrad. I doubt many/any unis offer anything forensic at undergrad.

Thanx guys. Have been checking BPS website, its of great help!! Looks like I can do any adequate undergrad. psych and then do masters in forensic p. Well that solves the problem. :p:

There are some unis offering forensic psy. as undergrad. programmes but as I mentioned those are the ones with not such a good rep. So basicaly I was worried that instead of reasonably edu, they are aimed on fans of Bones, CSI and similar tv shows..I guess you know what I mean. Well, not that those shows are bad or something it just is bit too much hollywood and not enough reality.

Thank you again for help ))

Dear chocklita

good luck with what you ve decided to do, but when you are about to chose a uni for the MSc in forensic psychology i advise you to avoid kent uni. i was very disappointed with the professors' behaviour, many of them are rude and not willing to support you, and the fact that they are quite disorganized.

Hiya all,
I have just completed a degree in psychology and criminology and I am now working through a masters in forensic psychology. I was just wondering if anyone could share some experience on how they have found relevant work experience or what route they took in order to achieve their goal of becoming a forensic psychologist.

Doubt you will still be active so this is definitely a long shot but I might as well try. This is what I am thinking of doing, how did everything work out?
