Help!
Im sitting my unit 6 english language exam next month and Im fine with the language acquisition part but I simply haven't a clue for language change.

I've had the worst teacher who hates teaching this unit and so we've learnt nothing. Ive bought loads of books to help me but I havnt a clue what to revise.
I know the general history up to 17th century but we were told the texts in the exam will be past this time anyway. Please help im desparate! I need tips for what to revise!

Is this for the WJEC A2 English Language?

If so, the best thing is to learn lots of terminology for the Language Change section.

I'm revising this list of Terminology (Hope this is useful; its what I can remember from the top of my head):

Lexical Change:
Derivation
Affixiation (Prefix, Infix, Suffix)
Conversion
Archaic/Obsolete Lexis

Semantic Change
Amelioration
Perjoration
Broadening
Narrowing
Weakening
Political Correctness
Changing Semantic Field

Grammatical Change
Double Negatives
Inflexional Endings
Inverted Syntac
Pre Modifying Genetive

Orthographical Change (Spelling)
I/Y is interchangeable
U/V is interchangeable
I/J is interchangeable
Idiosycratic spelling
Final 'e' to some words

...

I must admit; I generally feel more confident on the Spoken Language section, but I enjoy writing about the Historical, Social and Cultural factors of the Language Change section.
